A native of Poland, Adam Chlastawa began playing the piano at the age of six. With honors from each academy, Chlastawa graduated in 1997 from music school in Tarnow, Poland and in 2002 from  Roosevelt University under the direction of renowned pianist and Professor, Pawel Checinski.

 

       In 1999, Mr. Chlastawa was awarded First Prize at the Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competition in Chicago. Adam has also won First Place at Roosevelt University Concerto Competition and received Second Prize at the Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra Piano Concerto Competition. In 1994, Chlastawa was awarded Third Prize at the National Ignacy Jan Paderewski Piano Competition in Poland and in 1996 he received an honorable mention at the International “Arthur Rubinstein in Memoriam” Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Adam is a 2000 Ruth Ramis Music Award winner and also won scholarships from  Evanston Music Club and American Opera Society of Chicago.

 

       Chlastawa has participated in various music festivals and seminars conducted by world-famous pianists such as Janusz Olejniczak, Pawel Skrzypek, Bella Davidovich, Menahem Pressler, Lee Kum-Sing,  Jerome Rose.

 

       Adam Chlastawa has performed many solo recitals throughout the United States as well as in Poland, Hungary, Taiwan, and Japan. He has participated in the program, “Paderewski Piano on Tour,” sponsored by the Copernicus Foundation and the Polish Museum of America. Chlastawa has also appeared as a soloist with the Lake Shore Symphony Orchestra performing Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.1
